Our Winchester 94 dovetail mount for red dot sights couldn’t be easier to install. Click the play button to watch the Quick Tip video.

More and more lever-action rifle hunters are turning to red dot sights from Burris, Vortex, Docter and others. For those of us relying on the venerable Winchester 94 in the field, installing our Model 92/94 barrel mount for your FastFire™ or Docter red dot sight couldn’t be easier.

Turnbull Restoration’s Steve Lester takes us through the quick and easy process of installing a barrel mount for red dot reflex sights. Turnbull’s red dot barrel mounts work on both Winchester models 1894 and 1892 with round barrels, and accommodate FastFire models 1 through 4, Vortex Venom, as well as Docter red dot sights. See our full listing of compatible sights.

Tools used for this red dot sight mount installation:

  • Bench vise
  • Padded wooden vise jaw
  • Paper card
  • Ball-peen hammer
  • Brass punch (taped to prevent barrel marring)
  • Flat head screwdriver

    Quick question?
Can the front sight post remain if the red dot sight is mounted or does it have to be removed (Model 94)

      Hi Bennett,
Yes, the front sight post remains and the red dot sight shoots over it.

        Hi Jim,
I’m not sure if that will work, as we haven’t tried it in house. You’d be welcome to try it out; if you find that it doesn’t work you can mail it back for a full refund, less $10 shipping and handling.
        Thanks,
        Sara

        Hi Steve,
I don’t believe it will work, although it’s not something we’ve tried.
        Thanks,
        Sara

Hi guys I have a Winchester ranger in 30-30 and hoping to fit a vortex venom red dot. Do you have a mount for this in stock? I’m in NZ but have friends in the states that could ship on to my address as it says you don’t ship to NZ. Thanks.

Will this on a Winchester 290? If not, could you suggest what Red Dot would work? Thank you

      Hi Brad,
I don’t believe so, but it’s not something we’ve tested. Unfortunately I don’t have any recommendations.
      Thanks,
      Sara
