It’s not often that we restore rare and collectible German firearms. But our good friends at the German Gun Collectors Association bring us very cool examples from time to time, and we always enjoy working on their projects. Here’s one example in the Martini style, marked with the phrase “C Stiegele Jun. München”.

Metal Restoration

• Repair dents in rib, re-shape
• Polish barrel
• Make new front sight insert
• Re-cut proof marks to original
• Rust blue barrel
• Box anneal receiver and parts
• Repair cracked top tang at comb
• Polish butt plate, loading gate, and lever
• Lightly polish receiver
• Repair screws
• Re-cut engravings
• Color case harden receiver, lever, sight parts
• Charcoal blue triggers and parts
• Nitre blue receiver screws and parts

Wood Restoration

• Soak stocks to minimize oil staining and clean soiling in carving panels
• Repair and re-carve thumb rest
• Strip and sand open portions of stocks
• Refinish open areas with hand-rubbed oil finish
• Clean out carving panels, finish with linseed oil
