This is an A.H. Fox XE 12 gauge shotgun, with a 2nd barrel set fit by Turnbull Restoration. This classic American double gun carries serial number 29317, and is dated from 1924.
Metal restoration was performed by Turnbull, and included light polishing, engraving was not re-cut (see photos); color case hardening of receiver, top lever and forend iron/latch; trigger reshaped to mid-position; both sets of barrels were polished and rust blued by us. The Fox has been utilized by its owner since restoration, so it does carry some handling marks.
This Fox’s original barrel set is 28″ in length. A 2nd barrel set at 26″ was fit by Turnbull Restoration and engraved to match the original set. Wood condition is very good with minor handling marks. We did not work on this Fox’s wood, and appears to have been refinished by a 3rd party at some point. We replaced the original broken grip cap.
28″ barrel set (original): Cylinder/Improved Cylinder, 2-1/2″ chambers.
26″ heavey barrel set: Improved Cylinder/Modified, 3″ chambers with long forcing cones.
