For many, Arthur W. Savage’s lever gun is considered “the king of whitetail rifles”. While the Winchester Model 1894, usually in .30-30, was ubiquitous in the deer woods, the Savage option was often the choice among hunters. Its rotary box magazine gave the rifle the ballistic advantage of being able to shoot pointed bullets. It was also tough enough to handle high-powered cartridges using smokeless powder.
This example with serial number C115450 is a late model manufactured in Westfield, MA. It shows some light pitting on left side of receiver. The buttstock has been slimmed and the fish belly removed. Finished with TruOil.
