The Pedersoli Mortimer Whitworth Rifle was designed to be ideal for 50-100 yard precision target shooting. The model won the World Muzzleloading Championship gold medals in 1989, 1991 and 1992.
It is also well-balanced for hunting, and known as one of the highest-grade firearms in the Pedersoli line. It reproduces a British express rifle for big game. With their shotgun butts, these are far more comfortable than their peers with crescent plates.
This example was initially a target rifle in .451 caliber, taking #11 percussion caps. Two inches were cut off the original 32-inch barrel, with a new dovetail cut for the front steel hooded globe sight. Wrist peep sight is adjustable for windage and elevation.
The barrel was also re-rifled for the .58 mini bullet. It shoots round balls as well.
The stock was slimmed and cheek piece re-cut, removing its fish belly. The wood is checkered in 16 lines per inch in a 3:1 ratio, with the diamonds left slightly flat-topped.
