Colt Model 1911 Mfg. 1918 Engraved
This early 1911 pistol has been engraved in a bold American Scroll style, reminiscent of Colt factory engraving done by engravers such as Cuno Helfricht. This style of engraving was often found on Colt Single Action Army revolvers, and continued to be used by Colt on their early Automatic pistols. The scroll elements are bold, set apart from the expertly polished surfaces of the pistol by a punch dot background and heavy, deep flare cuts. Traditional nick and dot, running leaf, and wriggle borders frame the engraving nicely, and together with the scroll work nearly cover this pistol with authentic Colt style ornament. This classic pistol, combined with the historically accurate decoration, would make a great addition to any fine gun lovers collection. No two hand engraved firearms are exactly alike, so don’t wait to add this to your collection right away!
In addition to the upgrade of engraving, restoration also included a full metal polish, rolling & stamping of all original markings, new grips and charcoal blue finish.
