For those who value both heritage and refinement, here is a rare opportunity to acquire one of our very own Turnbull Finished versions of the legendary Winchester Model 1892, It’s chambered in the historically important .44-40 Winchester cartridge, and is now offered as a pre-owned example from our 2020 production.

Beginning with a factory-new Model 1892 Deluxe Takedown platform, we applied our signature finishing sequence: a beautiful bone-charcoal color case hardening on the receiver, lever, hammer and butt plate; classic rust blue on the 24″ full octagon barrel and full-length magazine tube; charcoal-blue on all the small parts; and then selected grade 5/6 American walnut stocks with hand-rubbed oil finish to evoke the classic red shading and feel of the historic Winchester era. Further, our tang-safety conversion reverts the rifle to the half-cock safety as originally designed. And we’ve lightened the mainspring to relieve the factory’s stiff lever pull, giving you a rifle that looks and runs like a true classic.

Since 2020 this particular example has seen only a handful of rounds. The metal retains its original vibrant case-hardening and rust blue finish. The wood remains virtually flawless and handling marks are minimal, indicative of someone who valued it as a finely finished piece.

For the collector, this represents the best of both worlds: the exacting craftsmanship of our Turnbull finishing, but without the wait of a new build.
