The Winchester Model 1886 stands as one of John Moses Browning’s finest lever-action designs—a rifle built to harness the powerful cartridges of its era with strength and elegance. At Turnbull Restoration, we are the masters of 19th-century Winchester lever-action restoration, with an unwavering passion for preserving Browning’s original vision. That passion drives us to offer this special, limited-time release.
We begin with a factory-new Winchester 1886, custom-ordered in our exclusive Turnbull configuration. Then, using the same time-honored techniques that define our world-class restoration work, our craftsmen apply museum-grade finishes that honor the tradition of the original.
- Signature metal finishes: The receiver, hammer, lever, forend cap, grip cap, and butt plate are all bone charcoal color case hardened using our authentic, period-correct process. The 26-inch octagonal barrel and full-length magazine tube receive a deep, lustrous rust blue, while the trigger, sights, and small parts are finished in a classic charcoal blue.
- Hand-rubbed walnut stocks: The high-grade American walnut stocks are refinished by hand in a rich, oil-rubbed finish, carefully matched to Winchester’s classic red shading—capturing the look and feel of an original 1886 in its prime.
- Tang safety conversion: To return this rifle to John Browning’s original intent, we perform our tang safety conversion, restoring the half-cock safety just as it was over a century ago.
This is more than just a rifle—it’s a tribute to Browning’s genius and Winchester’s golden age. Whether you’re a serious collector or a discerning shooter with an appreciation for fine craftsmanship, the Turnbull-Finished Winchester Model 1886 is a rare opportunity to own a piece of history, brought to life with uncompromising authenticity.
