Winchester 1886

Description

Starting with only a vintage  Model 1886 action and sights, this rifle is an example of a restoration/upgrade. A new 24’ octagon barrel, magazine tube, hammer and assorted other parts were fitted to the action. The only variation from the original configuration is a shorter barrel and a 14 1/2″ LOP – built to Tom Selleck’s dimensions.

In restoring this rifle as the Winchester factory letter; the stocks are new 2X fancy American Black Walnut, hand checkered in a Winchester H pattern. A hard rubber butt plate was fitted to the stock.  The lever & hammer are finished with original Bone Charcoal Color Case Hardening. The barrel and magazine tube are slow process rust blued. The receiver, bolt and assorted small parts were finished in Carbonia Charcoal Bluing.
